Domestic Building Contracts Act 2000

Domestic Building Contracts Act 2000

The social contract theory derives from old philosophical and sociological theories which sought to understand how individuals form nations and maintain social order.

As sociological perspectives indicate, individuals conform to social society under political, ethical and moral obligations in order to secure freedom against the invasive actions of others.

According to eminent criminologists Eugene McLaughlin and John Muncie, agreed social contracts seek to bind those members of society who choose and implicitly agree to maintain the state’s terms. This requires the willingness of the individual to sacrifice some natural rights that exist under the state (by conforming to certain social measures) in the hope of securing other freedoms.
